HOCKEY RALLY FALLS SHORT AT MISSOURI STATE, 3-2

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 15)—For the second consecutive night, the McKendree College hockey team came up one goal short at Missouri State University.

      The Bearcats lost by a 3-2 score Saturday night in Springfield, Mo. McKendree has lost its last three matches to fall to 5-7 on the year. The Bearcats will be on the road next Friday and Saturday at the University of Kansas.

      In Saturday’s contest, Missouri State jumped in front with three goals in the first period. Junior goaltender Marcus Power (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill.) survived a barrage of 23 first-period shots by the Bears and stopped the final 27 shots he faced on the night.

      The Bearcats finally broke through late in the second period when junior defenseman Brent Grimm (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon) (O’Fallon, Ill.) scored his third goal of the weekend to trim the deficit to 2-1. McKendree rallied within 3-2 when freshman Nick Dreyer (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo) (Waterloo, Ill.) scored with just 1:15 left.

      Missouri State held a 50-27 edge in shots on goal against McKendree.
